Sonali Bendre. Why I will forever love her?

As I like many, many actors, there is only one female artist I am sure I will forever worship.
That is Sonali Bendre.

I feel she is rather underrated and many openly wonder if I am stupid to adore her so much. Very funny.
I am often asked - Why do you love her so much?

I hope this post will provide you an answer to this question.

I saw Duplicate bacause of SRK. I so KHNH because of SRK. I saw DAPK because of sheer curiosity.
This movies have just one thing in common - that is the forever gorgeous and talented Sonali Bendre Behl.

She retired from acting during 2004, then she was blessed with a son. She is not really planning to comeback, as far as I know. The best thing about her decision to opt out from movies is not only that she was married - her wedding took place in 2002, her career wasn't really suffering from it, actually in 2003 or 2004 she had hits and critical acclaimed stint of movies. Sonali Bendre expressed in many interviews that movies just started to bore her, that's why she decided to focus on her family instead. How brave is that! Right now is is a judge in India's Got Talent, previously she was a judge in Indian Idol 4 (I hate how so many ppl criticized her for being there as she is no way connected to music. Hell Yeah, but it's a tv show, not a proffesional anything so somebody who sees things differently than Anu Malik is always heplful) and Mr and Mrs Television (the only good thing about this one is that she looked gorgeous ;)).

Sonali debuted during early '90, in Aag with Govinda. Sadly, she never been truly a hit heroine many of her movies, not matter how good or how good she was in them, flopped badly. Then she tried south, as her item number Humma for Mani Ratnam's Bombay has been always popular. So there was hit Kadhal Dhinam, which was latter dubbed and released in Bollywood as Dil Hi Dil Mein, but it wasn't as suceessful as Tamil original. She was adorable paired with Mahesh Babu in Murari, even she managed to match Chiranjeevi's screenpresence two times without being much irritiating, in Indra and Shankar Dada MBBS. I pity that she never had a chance to act with Venkatesh then, I am sure they would make a wonderful jodi. She also acted with Nagarjuna in Manmadhudu, and that wasn't nothing new as they were acting together previously in some hindi movies. She had one kannada movie, remake of Darr titled Preetse with the hairy Upendra. BTW all the movies listed here, mostly all of them, has been reviewed here so just try search box if you are curious :)
I know much more about her late releases, such as Chori Chori, Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega or Palanati Brahmanaidu (her only flop is telugu, rest - super hits), her early performances are yet to watch for me.

Actually one of my favest movies with Sonali is her only marathi movie, Anaahat (read my review here). It is bit unknown flick, but it's truly worth-watching!

I love her smile.

And her dancing.

And her dressing sense, bit awful at time, but as we say in Poland - pretty person looks pretty in everything :)

She was the best Nirma girl. (according to Honey ;))

She is an brand ambassador for OMEGA, but as Abhi is listed as an ambassador at OMEGA's offcial website, Sonali is missing...

The worst thing about liking Sonali is that she used to play bomettes at times and many people judge her by Sarfarosh only, in which she was good, despite being bit irritating for Aamir. Many also see only her beauty, not skills... Let Sonali speak:

I am not back. I just stumbled upon my own blog, seen how good the stats looks when I am not posting so I thought that I'll maybe ruin them by posting a lil' post about something important to me :)

5 reason why I won't like EDT as much as love VTV (yeah I know, that comparing thing is bad but who cares?):

none will make think that Amy, that is not really Indian (guess it's quite an achievment - to be less Indian than Katrina [just a joke, do not get me wrong]; Kat used to live in my hometown, I bet you didn't knew that), will emote and do all right stuff to portray a Jessie that would be a beliveable character. Nah. Not only she will be dubbed (OK, I am used to it after these years of wathing SI flicks) but come on, she was good in Madrasapattinam cause she could more or less relate to that character - English woman etc. But now? I don't believe in her acting potential, I have that startegy of dissmissing misses wold. Just because, deal with it.
Soundtrack. Javed Akhtar ruined the lyrics. TOTALLY.
I am not writing this all cause my perfect cast for the ramake was Trisha and Ranbir Kapoor but... this happens when you stumble across an angry fan girl. That is me, Lou.
Agra? WTF?
Title. I wanted this to be entitled Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gayi, or something as romantic. But this? Nah.
BONUS - another ending. So the question is: will they ruin it or not? As YMC was ruined, maybe this time Jessie will commit a suicide? Cause is there any option, apart for being and not being together? One must die. Or something.

How I met Karthi (and Pranitha. and Raju Sundaram!)

Week ago I was taking a train home while my friend Grus phoned me and said that another Indian movie is being shot in Cracow. I was delighted to hear that now Kollywood tried shooting in Cracow and surprised that no one other than Karthi has came to my town!
Proudly speaking, it is great that three videos for Saguni are picturarised in Poland :) I met Karthi quite near my house, funny that the curch where I was baptised etc is going to appear in a tamil movie, unbeliveable!

I met Karthi, Pranitha and Raju Sundaram. Raju was shocked that I recognized him - I just have a good memory for faces :) Pranitha was extremely sweet and Karthi... uber-cool. I was so fangirling (told him, for example that he made my heart stop etc, really!), and Karthi was like a normal guy to me and my friend, no star issues. Unlike, for example Bachchan saab - I wanted to write something about his recent stay in Cracow but... I was quite dissapointed and opted-out from the idea.
Anyways, I wish that some more movies could be shot here - let Poland be tha new Switzerland! :D

Money Money More Money - they wanted it to be hillarious, for me it's just riddiculus.

Andamaina Abatham - Raja could be such a fine actor only if he tried to change his image... Suprising number of misc significant telugu character artists aka "that man who shows up is nearly every movie" or "that woman who always play mean aunty".

Daggaraga Dooranga - I missed Sumanth so much... It's great that he's back. And even better that Vedhika is back in action. I really liked them together! And the movie... sometimes lack logic but cool songs make it up :P

Danger - messed up. BTW, it's from 2005 and starts people like Swati (yeah!) or Allari Naresh.

Ullam Ketkumae - one of the best "youth flicks" I even seen.

Prem Kahani - cute movie but also hard-hitting. Loved the songs.

Veppam - only first half, somehow I am not able to watch more... Maybe later.

Bbuddha Hoga Terra Baap - Puri rewaorks his South ways for Bollywood. It's good but despite Big B, it lack some suspence in story. Average.

3 mini movie reviews + one mini music review

First the music review - Dhookudu! After cool songs for rather bad movie, I mean Khaleja, I was expecting something nice from Thaman S, as Dhukudu is one of the very few Mahesh movies without Mani Sharma music.
Well, last year was great for Thaman but in 2011... I didn't liked much any of his albums, even Vandhaan Vendraan. Kandireega was just OK, Mirapakai was awful. I miss OSTs like Eeram, Brindavanam or Ragada. Guess 2011 it's not Thaman's best year...
The only song I really liked is the title one, rest is passable.

And now, films :)

Kandireega - so fun! Guess I haven't seen a good mass movie in a while, but this one is good. Sonu Sood is a scene stealer! Only the dubbing... Second half is better, and Hansika was slightly less annoying. Ram rocks.

10th Class - wanted to watch something with Sunaina after her tamil debut. Sharvanand was credited Bharat? WTF. Overally, veeery "vintage" movie. Funny if with Rajni Filter.

Chillar Party - so cool!! Loved it!

Complete waste of... everything - Veera (2011)

I watched this one only because I was bit bored and most of masala flicks enables me to switch off my brain for like 2h, so I watched Veera. Exept movies like Neninthe, Ravi Teja's movies are damn repetitive. I can watch them with my eyes closed and still know what's happening.

Veera is a movie that has crappy mass songs, one probably badass heroine (come on, Kajal?? She can play dumb princess, not a kabbadi player!), cool yet rather dissappering second heroine, creepy villains, annoying comedy... And a hero, who can do everything except the stuff only Rajni can do.
Ain't good this movie is, watch it only if you like feel brain-screwed. I did. After watching. Ouch.
And that song, with Taapsee, for example, singing in toilet or wearing fugly wigs...

Lion of Punjab - I wanted to watch some straight punjabi movie but this one turned out to be just a remake. Remake of one of my fav Vikram movies, Dhool. It was very much like the tamil original, frame-to-frame. I detested the lead heroine, she was defenitely unimpressive. The second one was fun, and her songs were awesome. The last one, with chorus - "I am fine as Kareena, but you are no where close to Saif". And one thing - that guy in lead can dance!

Christian Brothers - Mohanlal to the rescue 24/7. 3 hours, loved Dileep in it.

404 Error Not Found - pretty weird...

Shaitan - reminds me that movie with Keira Knightley. Kalki rocks.

Hududga Hudugi - Johared! Lots of "hot" ladies in the cast, though. Ileana, Lekha, Anitha, Sada...

Tera Mera Saath Rahen - nice one, Sonali did a great job.

Kannodu Kaanbathellam - I expected something usual, yet it was good. Watched all that southies with Sonali, I feel proud :D Mission accomplished!

DSP is not a bad compositor but somehow he just stopped evolving.
And the amount of songs he is used to remade from himself - almost every hit or underrated song, from Ringa Ringa to Manmadhuda.

Bhoome Gundramga is sunged by Richard and Raina Reddy. Somehow reminds me Harris Jeyaraj latest OSTs - Orange and Engeyum Kadhal. Sydney Nagaram and Nangaai respectively.
I like the lyrics, nice blend of Telugu and English. Beat is catchy. Overally, it's a good song.

Hello Hello Laila is a sweet track, sunged by Nikhil D'Souza, my fav Aisha man, and the uber talented Neha Bhasin. I like it though it's boring. Lyrics are interesting.

Telugu Bengali reminds me Vaadi Vaadi from tamil movie Sachin. Or Hey Rama from Villu?
Dunno if it's a remade, because the beat is quite different, maybe it's a tune from some other song, yet it's familiar so I bet it's not new.
Lyrics are quite messy, in my opinion, and I have to admit that this track is catchy yet not much impressive. What I liked was Megha background vocal.
And I don't know why, but since I know basic Telugu, all that non-telugu singers who probably can't speak the lang much (like Shreya Ghoshal who knew limited hindi when she was awarded that Filmfares etc for Barso Re) sound rubbish for me, because they fail when it comes to the right pron. OK, there's just one Udit Narayan, but still. I love Enduko by Sonu Nigam, for the movie Chintakayala Ravi, but come one, I can't pay attention to lyrics, though they are beautiful, cause he's killing them with his lack of right pron.
Yeah, I am aware that I sound like Katrina Kaif when I speak Telugu, but I am just a girl, not highly payed playback singer. It's pissing me off when I think how much money get a North star and how many times it's that less than what average singer from Andhra gets.

Godava Godava - mass-disco track. Priya Hemesh and Karthik. Passable!

Diwali Deepaanni has four singers among which Andrea rules, with her very own style of singing. This song is intersting because of the saxophone and somehow Latin touch.

Chinnaga Chinnaga is my favorite song. Sagar's voice is so similar to DSP', it much be funny when they sing a song together xD It's a short track, and it's just a tune from the second track with different tempo and lyrics.

Ye Pilla Pilla is saved only by Suchitra and Jaspreet Jazz. It's a model mass track and despite that I actually love mass tracks like Raye Saloni or Chudoddantunna, and I am a big fan of Vijay Anthony, mass king of Kollywood, this one fails to impress. And English lyrics are awful.

To sum up, I would say that I am not impressed. I am pretty confused. DSP created a certain medley of rather modern tunes with certain mass appeal. Well, I think I need to watch to movie to judge the songs properly. Last time, when Mr Perfect songs came out, I didn't liked them but now I can listen to some songs endlessly.

Apparently it's entitled Starz so I guess it's somehow a continuation of Maa Stars? Maa Stars wasn't a bad magazine, maybe somehow different than, for example South Scope or Galatta... (All three were analised here on my blog and I even posted some scans :))
Layout is similar, even photoshoots. Just can't find any info about this thing online, just one issue with two lang versions.

Liked that Kajal cover, it's nice. Shame I can't read telugu xD
Why is Rana in every possible magazine these day? Really annoying, sorry. I don't find anything special about him, sorry.

Four movies you must watch, trust me.

Broker - RP Patnaik made the music, script, story and directed the whole thing, and also plaed the lead character of Ganapathi.
Two things I didn't liked - weird comedy track and item numbers - commercial elements not needed in this movie cause it's pretty known that social issues-related movies won't get too much recognition or make much money. Yeah, Tagore. But how commercial this movie was, comparing it to the tamil original.
I liked the amazingly gripping plot. And Srihari - he was awesome, as usual!
Kudos to RP Patnaik! Watch this now, I am telling you.

Elsamma Enna Aankutty - my new favorite malayalam movie!
Loved how strong the lead character of Elsa was. And songs are great. And story was great. Liked that cute romance plot :) Only that Sherin girl annoyed me a lot, but I guess it was the purpose of her character. Kunchako Boban was adorabs.

Lavakusa - classic! NTR was such a splendid actor. I realised it only after watching some of his classic mythological movies like this one. Bobilli Puli, for example, was pretty bad.

Mynaa - NOW!!!! I rewatched it like 1000 times.

New (or at least recent) tamil (one bilingual) releases.

Kanden - finally Shantanoo started acting. Loved this movie! Maybe it's pretty weak in terms of story telling but... Do I care? ;)

Venghai - Hari is a good director, yet sometimes I just don't like his movies. Like I liked Thamizh or Saamy but Vel or Aaru? No way. This movie, despite great Dhanush and Prakash Raj plus great second song - that one by Karthik, hasn't impressed me. And you know that I don't like Tamanna at all.

Bhavani - badass Sneha. Well... everything in this movie could be better.

180 - great visuals, lack of gripping plot. Great acting by leading ladies.

Avan Ivan - I really liked it! Despite my dear Githa's rather not favourable review, I find this movie really entertaining and touching. Good music. Surya SA was dissapointing though. Vishal - damn, I bet he totally made

Deiva Thirumagal - very good! Amazing! I agree that last hour was dragging, but all performances by the lead (and supporting to, of course) cast were splendid. Comedy was also good. And the ending... I loved the original, so big thumbs up for Vijay as he "adapted" the story well :)

Thambikottai - Poonam is one of my favorite girls, really. Narain is cool too, yet this movie... Wasn't that good. Meera was OK but her character was lacking substance (yay, it's weird - I sound like some masala-brained critic...)

5 reasons why I don't want to watch my 1000th Indian movie

1. What next?
I mean it will be quite an achivment. And I'll lose the whole motivation, the kick from being Polish girl who watched nearly 1000 to some rubbish expert that watched more than this.

2. No more good movies!
Even now it's hard to amaze me, much much harder than 400 movies ago.
And I will run out of movies one day... Like I don't have much movies with my fav actors and actresses to watch.

3. Boredom.
To be frank, I rarely watch a movie that is completely free of cliches or/and it uses it in cool, new way. Honestly, most of Indian filmmakers just don't like to experiment.
It's like this not only in India though.

4. I still know nothing.
Yeah. I know nothing about movies. It makes me sad that probably I will never know much and people will see first a gori in me, then a fellow fan.

5. Not much time for that...
Well, this is not a reason that is my fault. Seriously, month of holidays and I don't think if I watched more than 10 new movies since end of school?
Sad but true.

Well, this is my wall of cool stuff. There are things that shouldn't be there, like lots of SRK, and stuff I always forgot to paste there, like my favorite bands. Guess the space left it little ;)
There's Bollywood, Tollywood, Kollywood etc. - lots of Indian Cinema-related stuff, in genelar. But also there's a Doctor Who poster, toy TARDIS, two Keep Calm posters - one with Ian Somerhalder and another with Benedict Cumberbatch. Plus they are also somewhere else. I have two little poscards with "vintage" educational Indian posters, they are great.
You may ask why Leonardo? It's one of my fav paintings and I also joke alot that Cecilia's my bro girlfriend xD Cinema Paradiso - easily one of the best movies ever made.
Near Malaika and that 'Save the planet, Kill yourself' thing, there's a cute postcard with Sonali dancing with Govinda, my sis bought me this one.
In the middle, there's a lovely ad for some Indian clothing company. I adore it, though I have no idea about the company at all xD It's great and cheers me up sometimes.
That paper with written Surya, Vishal, Prabhas, Mahesh, NTR Jr on it, is pretty old. Two, three years since it's on my wall. Sometimes, when I get a superb idea, I write it down on it :)
And yeah, I hate Fashion but I love the poster designs and that two litte posters were a gift from my sis.
It's above my bed, I fall asleep while looking at it, like a boss.

How do you like it? :) For me it's splendid :D

Random thoughts after watching Force trailer

Watch the trailer first, then read my ramblings.

1. Kaaka Kaaka forever and the dwo days after that. Surya totally changed his fate after that movie and earlier Nanda. Which watching made Jyothika recomend Surya to the director, and then, while shooting, they felt in love with each other. And had to wait 5 years (yes! Surya narrated the whole story in some talk show.) for their parents to agree for them to marry. Today they have two cute children and are perfect :)

2. John is running with nakes chest in order to distract us, as he thinks he may not be as good as Surya (or even Venky) have been so we may stop coparing Force to KK or him to Surya for a moment and he hopes that we will not thing again about comparing till the ending credits, as he's finally wearing shirt in the climax, or, I wish! (just kidding), in bloopers.

3. Genelia d'Souza looks rather 'oh this is so boring' while some rather "bold" scenes. I like her a lot, I think her image of happy-go-lucky Hasini is making damage to her since years. In Urumi or Katha she totally proved herself, but she is still being terribly underrated. Sigh, Sonakshi or Katrina are totally overrated, signing movie after movie, while sheer talents like Gen or Anushka Sharma are black PRed and all they has are poor, boring bloggers like me complaining whenever they have time.
It's good that Asin is not playing the female lead again, she ruined it in Garshana.
BTW Gen is better in the Asin maneouvre than Asin. #dealwithit

4. Uyrin Uyire in hindi? Erm. This melody is epic, but pretty 2004... Javed Akhtar - please make this a good one. Telugu version is a fail already.
Harris actually composed the whole OST, let's hear, as it will release soon, I hope, how many songs he remaked. Like... I don't know. Imagine Ennamo Aedho in hindi. Ugh. Or Sydney Nagaram. Fuuu! Even Manasa. Or Ennanbe Naalu... Mudhal Mazhai Enai! Orugalluke Pilla! OK, I'll stop now, sorry for your minute mind nightmare.
He once scored hindi remake of Minnale in hindi. It flopped, badly, yet everytime I read anything about that failure, there's always written that the music was widely appreciated. So maybe this time Harris Jeyaraj will catch some hindi offers? Maybe. I don't like him much. None of is albums are good from the first track to BGM, apart from Vaaranam Aayiram. Even in KK I found songs that I don't like.

5. NO CREDIT FOR GAUTHAM VASUDEV MENON AS A WRITER! wtf????
It's a @#%^&*(*&^%$# that he's not directing this one.

6. Action - running with naked chest (why? - read 2.), guns (fuuu the poster, I disliked the concept), breaking glass and falling 'intru da window' injection dialogues... Will the good vs bad tension, so awesome in KK, be present?

7. Come on, tatoo? Is that some latest trend for leading actors to fake tatoos to make characters seem real or whatever? Maybe I am exaggerating a bit, but I don't like tatoos at all. Priya Anand tatoos are OK, cause they are really clever and pretty awesome too, small and stuff. And as much as I like Vikram or Mumaith Khan, their body art is just... ewww.

8. Where's the villain? And what is Raj Babbar doing there?

9. Ending. I need a clue if it's hardcore and perfect as in tamil or happy and wtf as in telugu. Watched some gossip video on YT recently that they opted for the light version. It's funny how Gautham Sir always changes the climax to happy ending from kick-ass soul-wrenching bliss for his sado-maso fans (I may say followers, because liking Gautham sir is sometimes likef wearing a tshirt 'I hate GLBT' in Berlin, he's so different that all tamil directors). Telugu audience is weird, but I still like AP a lot. Telugu movie can be so good and even riddiculously bad but this makes some of them even more enjoyable.
As VTV remake with 'so 90' title is progressing, I wonder if Gautham sir will be respected in Bollywood. I guess not cause I have a feeling that Prem Katha will flop. Yeah. I think Prateik is nowhere near Simbu as I find all of his performances same, and Amy... Come, on.
Garshana is a movie that mixed BO report is striking. Venky blance between family and action with ease, but some accepted light Kaaka Kaaka in Telugu and some said it was a miss for Venky. I don't like him remaking movies, it's always rather harmful to him than actually cool.
Kannada industry released the sandalwood remake recently, with Ramya/Divya. Dunno about it's fate.

10. The guy who shot JBJ, Ayananka Bose, is the cinematographer of this one! *happy dance*

11. Art director - wish it's the same guy who make this gorgeous set of that Maya house.

12. Bosco-Cesar choreographed songs so... The next Chori Bazaari or the next Zoobi Doobi?
I can't imagine Uyirin Uyire with their moves.

13. Hey. I don't like remakes. Read my guide how to remake movies. Wish some Indian filmmakers would read that post, badly.

14. Item. Number.
Ramya, the queen, danced in KK, Yana Gupta tried to repeat the magic in Garshana (and failed). Will the item number be here? And who will be that girl? Or maye it'll be a man? You know, I really liked that male experiment last year in Telugu. Some critics and viewers bashed it but... Change is always a good thing.

15. WOW, the car sequence! Looking forward to watching it.

16. That shout. I guess it's not the one of that twist ones.

17. No matter what, I am totally waiting for this one. Seriously. John can be a good actor and so Genelia, wonder about their chemistry but I wish them & the movie all the best :)

Zakhmi Aurat - kannada action flick with Prema in lead as a cop dubbed into hindi. That was weird, yet the movie was pretty... entertaining. In a weird way :D

This one is going to be long, chaotic, maybe shallow... But I did my best :)

After reading this, you can check two of my posts that is SI cinema A to Z and Why South?. They are good, as I heard, and maybe helpful :)
I don't link to reviews much, you can use the search on my page, 99% of that flicks have been reviewed by me :)

So, as you like romcoms and stuff, I think you will probably like Kotha Bangaru Lokam - it's a cute college love story. Also: 100% Love (it just released so the dvd will be released in October, hopefully, as DVDs are the hell of telugu cinema - sometimes you have to wait like 2 years for a proper dvd release, and even when the movie was a huge hit), Aarya and Aarya 2 (I prefer the second one! Wrote a nice review once), Darling, Tholi Prema, Happy, Ullasanga Utsahanga (all by A. Karunakaran, one of my fav directors), Paryanam, Prema (classic!), AMAV, Anand, Godavari, Happy Days, Sarvam (awful second half :( ), Gaalipata, Pancharangi, Manasare, Mungaru Male (don't like this one much but some of my friends do so..), Just Maath Mathali, Musanjemathu, Krishnan Love Story (that one is awesome!), Chocolate, Ala Madalaindi (this year biggest revelation in Tollywood, dvd just released :)), Varsham, Preminchukundam Raa, Kalisundam Raa, Murari, Elsamma Enna Aankutty, Pellaina Kothalo (great one - romcom for people that are not 20 but rather 30 years old)...

Tamizh Padam and Blade Babji are just two of my favest spoof comedy movies :) There are so many worth while comedies, ah, not really able to recover their names now. Goa, Saroja, Chennai 600028, Ashta Chamma - to name a few

Personally, I don't like much most of social-driven movies, like Indian, Stalin or Sivaji. Dunno why they don't work so much for me as for example Passenger, Broker (review soon!), Calcutta News, Janakan...

Action? Siva, Pokiri, Gang Leader, Simha, Okkadi, Chatrapati, Bhandra, Silambattam, Puthiya Mugham, Junglee, Jackie, Super (kannada, this one is actually veeeery masala), Singam, Saamy, Thamizh.

Also, the realistic movies, like Vedam, Mynaa, Raam (Tamil), Poo, Aadhukalam, Paruthiveeran, Prasthanam (politics!), Subramaniapuram, Sancharram, Duniya, Angadi Theru, Josh (kannada, very youth one)...

Thiller stuff, bit like Arundhati, are good down South. Check out Manmathan, Anasuya, Mantra, Anveshana, Eearm (marvelous). Sci-fi? Endhiran AKA Robo :) It's veeeeery entertaning.

Mythological/fanatasy/historical: Aditya 369, Yamadonga, Yamaleela, Yamuduki Mogudu, Lava Kusa, Maya Baazar (you don't know what is cinema without watching it), Madrasapattinam, Urumi, Pazhasi Raja...

As just liked VTV (or not but I dobt that - this movie is genius and easily it's one of my favest flicks of all time and all langs), you'll probably like other stuff by Goutham Sir, that is Vaaranam Aayiram (another all-time fave; genius music and awesome Surya), Kaaka Kaaka (classic!), Minnale.

Mani Ratnam is a genius, you know that so try his South Indian movies. My personal top 3 of his work is Iruvar, Nayakan and Geethanjali. But it doesn't mean other of his works are bad, Anjali or Mouna Raagam is defenitely worth while.

K. Balachander and K. Viswanath - oh, they are senior but sill genius. Try Maro Charitra and Sankarabharanam, for example.

That's all from me :) This "list" is shallow, sorry, but after watching over 600 SI movies you really can't chose. And I am sure I forgot about some flicks...

Jessie is still driving me crazy - or whole year after VTV official release.

Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa is a movie released in 2010. For me, it's already a classic. Why?

Gautham Menon is defenitely one of those directors that do not try to imitate anyone, they do not care about box office, they just want to make a good movie.
Yeah, I heard like zillion times that VTV is damn similar to (500) Days of Summer. Like I care. He may ripped some stuff but... For me the so-called original version is unbearable. Zooey is annoying, that guy is pitiful and whatever. While in SI version, (Telugu too, but I don't like this one) everything is simply perfect.

Karthik falls for Jessie. He has no idea whom she is, there is just something about her that makes him feel topsy-turvy. He slowly get to know her, but the truth is that it's her apperance that he liked.
Then, as the movie goes on, we get to know how Jessie feels about Karthik, yet still we know everything mostly from his perspective.
I admire Goutham Menon for creating such strong, real female characters. Jessie for sure exist somewhere as Megha or Jane, this is a character which is likely to be real. Karthik - I think there are many girls that wish for such lover. I can't sat I will mind but still I would prefer some better circumstances than this.

I saw VTV much more than year ago but it still feels like yesterday. Why? Because classics do not age. And VTV became a classic very quickly, even it's telugu version YMC, however worst, in my humblr opinion, was a hit and probably many in the future will be "inspired" by it.

Music by AR Rahman just adds more glory into this marvelously crafted movie.
There's a song by one of my ost favorite singers, Robyn, it goes love hurts when you do it right, so Karthik was just doing it right. So was Gautham Menon as he made a splendid flick!

On the other hand, I think that hindi remake is going to be real bad. B.A.D.

My 900th Indian movie watched - Prema Nagar (1971)

This time, as I am usually much more into recent movies than classics, I chosed a legendary romance starring the great ANR and Vanishree. Why this one? I really don't know. Probably because of that I like classics most of the time plus ANR is much more my man, I think, than NTR.

Previous centuries - 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th,7th,8th.
I am sorry for not updating this list. One day I'll do it, give me some time.

This movie hasn't got a complicated storyline, it's rather simple but what is special about it doesn't really lies in it's script. I loved ANRs drunk acts, ah that Devadas line!, and Vanishree was stunning. I don't know what all these old heroines had in them but all of them (all I know) are so full of grace and everything else. Sneha's recent photoshoot where she was styled as some retro dream girl proved to me that not many of today stars would be able to pull it off 40 years before their times.
I liked romances. Not many of them as actually appealing to me, but when I like some flick, you can be sure it is awesome - I am very choosy about the movies I like :D Not about the ones I watch cause I belive that even in the worst crap there may be something interesting, like one scene or some song, but when it comes to movies I can rewatch one day, they are not many of them. Rather few than lots.

This is a story of two lovers that are madly in love with each other but certain circumstances like the hero's mom or the fact that the girl is not so wealthy makes them part ways, despite the fact that the girl changed her man from happy-go-lucky guy who likes alcohol and girls into a nice guy. Will they unite?

I liked all of songs. And the climax. It's good but may seem cliched for some. Not for me ;)

Prema Nagar was remaked into some langs, I don't think I will like the remakes. Yeah, Prema Nagar is 40 years old and some things may be funny now, but still it is great. Watch it only if you can :) It's avalible on YT but I don't think it is subtitled, sadly.

Why I am so interested in Indian cinema?

I have no idea how many times I heard many variations of still the same question: Why you, Polish chick, care about movies made somewhere you have never been in your life? Why?

Nagarjuna would shout YE?! but I'll simply explain this matter to you :)

So... I saw my first Indian movie in Feb 2006. It was K3G, I liked it a lot but somehow I was very much interested in something else in that time so I just forgot about it. Then, after two years, I saw Saalam Namaste and some other movie. SN worked amazingly for me and since then, it was March 2008, I am proudly addicted to Indian cinema.

I love it for many reasons.
First being versatility, not only in genres but in... langs! That's right. I learned how to understand quite few of them, as it helps. Especially when there are no subs.
Also, songs. I love music, I can't live without it. Awesome composers, great singers, stunning melodies - how can I resist?
Who said that desi guys aren't handsome? And girls aren't pretty? Come on. Don't be racist and see something than 'the colour doesn't match'.
I like the "typical" masala style of filmaking. Guess it is what I ever missed in western movies.

There are so many reasons why I love Indian cinema. I have this blog to express it, literally movies movies made in India change my life. Made a difference. A good one!

SI music reccommendations for @TheMasakkali! Part I

My new lovely twitter buddy, music lover that wants to get to know some great songs. So... That's why this post. Hope you don't mind.
I am shitty when it comes to writing about music, really, I always end up writing about movies than it's OSTs, so pardon me that. And this one is chaotic. Hope the next part will be better.

As SI cinema is parted into 4 four industries, one for each state and lang. Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. Some of India's greatest talents hails from there, like Rahman or Ilayaraja or Keeravani.

Among all these four langs, I don't have my favorite. I used to think that Kannada is ugly but... That view of mine changed when I heard some songs which lyrics were written in a way that changed my opinion. Like Chalisuva Cheluve or Nadheem Dheem Thana.
The hardest South lang to sing is is defenitely Malayalam but it does not stop Udit Narayan or some other North guys sing some Telugu or Tamil songs in a way that it doesn't really sound like this lang. And I don't mean it in a good way.

My first Tamil OST I ever heard was the one by Harri Jayaraj for Goutham Menon's Vaaranam Aayiram. I heard it even before watching the movie, thanks to ApunBindaas :)
I don't remember which Telugu album was my first. Probably Pokiri as it was my first Telugu movie. I saw it in cinema, it was awesome!
Malayalam or Kannada? No idea.

There is one thing I hate about South Indian music - it's sometimes so underrated.

Mass or class? Who cares. I adore Vijay Anthony, whose kuthu or whateva numbers are really catchy for me, but AR Rahman is my fave too.

I can't list my favorite South composers. That list would be a) long b) shallow c) I don't like most of composers completely, like, for example, Yuvan Shankar Raja, only some of his albums appeals to me d) because of my low self-esteem I think all such lists by me will be shitty e) my taste is eclectic and weird f) I hate music remakes! Any everybody does that...
I will just write a bit about people that matters in all these woods, mention some songs - google them of play the video :) Next post will be a continuation of my coposers ramblings, ma ybe I'll start talking about singers :)

Rahman - does he need an introduction? I hate how some of his telugu works are underrated! Like Puli or Super Police. Or some early Tamil albums.

Ilayaraja is the ultimate classic. He made songs that are hit even today. I don't know his stuff as much as some friends of mine do, but there are defenitely songs of his, recorded by him quite a while ago, which are actually loved me me. Such as O Priya Priya, Mella Mella or En Iniya Pon Nilave.

Mickey J Meyer, who seems to keep extreme low-profile and I feel pity for him when he talks at his music releases, appearing to be so shy and I feel wrong. But, after all, his compositions are defenitely worth while. Especially my favest album of his, Kotha Bangaru Lokam. But, every movie that had songs by him is worth watching because of that. Hare Ram, Ganesh... Whatever. For me he can be the next Rahman but he has to work on variety. Melodies - great, but today every commercial flick has a modern song, disco or r'n'b (rare actually, but I wouldn't mind), he has to work on it.

Yuvan Shankar Raja is defenitely a great heir to his father Ilayaraja musical genius. I don't like most of his songs really, he is from the hyped ones. But defenitely O Baby from Amav or Pogadhe from Deepavali or Oru Kal from Siva Manasula Sakthi are his best.

Ouseppachan is my man, I looooove every song of his. Defenitely Bodyguard is better because of his songs than every other version. Telugu, Hindi, or Tamil will never outshine the magic of malayalam melodious marvelness. He has won National Award once, for Ore Kadhal - that album rocks.

Mano Murthy is defenitely overrated these days. But some tracks of his, like Onde Ninna, Ondu Kanasu, Kunidhu Kunidhu Baare or Hudugaru Beku (below, it's my anthem!) are defenitely worth it, in my view.

V Harikrishna makes some great tunes. Gaalipata is for me his best album so far. Every song from it is genius.

Mani Sharma - once I heard that he is the Pritam of South. Can't agree, because Pritam is someone on his own (thank God) but Mani Sharma... He copies, he remakes, he makes mass stuff but is able to make songs like Nalo Nenena too!

Harris Jeyaraj - noo, he's not my type. But... Kaaka Kaaka... Vaaranam Aayiram... He has songs that are great but... Maybe he's not my type at all.

Devan made just one OST so far but... Bale Pandiya is too good. Even if the movie wan't so cool. Happy is a special song - it has ovder 20 tamil singers in it.

Worst than its silly title - Naughty @ 40 (2011)

I saw this movie only because I was quite curious what will happen to Forty Years Old Virgin when Govinda plays the lead.
And...

Awful things.

Forty Years Old Virgin is like a Mani Ratnam movie and Naughty @ 40 seems to be something smashed by Kjo widely-appreciated genius.

Firstly, there is Govinda with bad hair, plying a character named Happy. And he is having bad romance, mostly he is not having any romance at all so that's why it may seem bad. As the whole movie is bad, I don't mind at all.
Yuvika had nice run in Sandalwood, who, I am asking, who?! made her sign this one? FUUUU (pardon tumblr slang).
She is annoyingly bad. Her character is dumb and quite out of place.

Well, accoring to me, the movie is like some sort of low-budgeted stuff, so then the song 'Thoda main adjust karoon' in the middle makes sense.
Goris, Shakthi Kapoor, posh lives of NRI youth in London, Anupham Kher trying to save it all ... Truly, this movie doesn't deserve a
And the ending is bit ripped from Khusi, telugu version of it (dunno about hindi, maybe ending is similar too).

What happend to National Awards?

Yesterday I sat with handy iPad and the news about National Awards for 2010 suprised me. National Awards are like sunshine in Poland - you never know when it happens, but it's a rather rare thing.

I was reading the list of winners peacefully, oh so proud of South Indian industries as it truly ruled this year (again!), and then I saw strange word among familiar ones. Dabangg. I remember watching this movie - I was bored and expected something at least bit better. Post Dabangg bang I am experiencing Sonakshi hiccup - she is everywhere, does she deserves that?
Back to National Awards, National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment is these days mostly given to movies like Oye Lucky Lucky Oye but 30 years ago, K Viswanath's classic, Sankarabharanam, have won this award.

And there's no comparison between the legend and the... Oh, I don't know what Dabangg is. Nothing good, that is sure.

The funny thing is that National Awards comitee/jury refused to award best movie in Telugu at least few times saying that they are not good enough.

So... Dabangg is better than them? Than Vedam, than Happy Days, than Andari Bhanduvaya, than _____________?
Sorry, no. Not for me. And probably not for 3/4 people who read my blog.

I consider movies awards lame - they are never totally just, as sometimes lobbies work, sometimes my view is different. That's why I think that my very own Bottle Awards rocks - they are mine! ;D

Yeah, this post will be rather long :) I am totally into Akshay Kumar these days, he's one of the very few reasons which makes me watch Bollywood movies at all, as I prefer less-west infected things like tamil masala or anything so-called regional.

Mr Bond - it took me five rewatches of the title song to catch that the playback singer sings 'handsome man' in some of the stanzas.
Apart from that, this movie is kind of ones that may be not actually clear but how fun.

Oh, ever since I saw I knew you'll be waiting (for me) video I love this.

Yeh Dillagi - sort of sibling rivaly. Ohhh, Saif Ali Khan can't act. Sometimes.

Sangharsh - the fact that this one was rather messed up from the fisrt to the last minute is obvious and I have no idea about what this movie is. Yeah, I got bits but Preity and Akki totally can make me watch all sorts of craps.

Ek Rishtaa - oh, how much I hate dramas...

Tarazu - Haseena Gori Gori is epic. And it's annoying how every girl in filmi world is always telling her convicted lover that she will wait for him while when some woman is actually getting punished for what she did (Aitraaz?), everybody leaves her.

Suhaag - Nagma is defenitely overrated. And yeah, Akki-womaniser = *epic*.

Ajnabee - thiller? Rather a boringer.

Amaluu wrote a similiar post just when I was in the middle of developing one of mine, very similar. So I dropped the idea but the, after some time, I thought - why not?
So... Enjoy some of my most favorite 'name' songs :) The order is quite random. I know even more of them but I've menationed only those I like that much so I don't mind listening to them once while :)

Before seeing what songs I've chosen, I want to share a story about myself. My real-life name is Teresa (actually I dunno why I am using Lou so often but this is a different story), I inherited it after my mom. When I was in kindergarten, a movie entitled Cześć Tereska (English: Hello Tereska; Tereska is a childlish form of Teresa) was realeased and literally it turned my life into a hell. Not the theme (it's about a girl, Teresa, who hails from a poor family and then she starts to drink, take drugs, smoke, prostitute and probably it hasn't got an happy end). Even today, after 10 years. when I introduce myself, most of the people are telling me about that movie. Arghh!
I pity all Sheilas.

It is sad and flustrating when I think how Charmi's career went on becoming tragic. Sadly.

It's a BMG track. Penned by the awesome Blaaze and AR Rahman set the tune right.

I hate that movie. So bad. And this song is creepy.

Oh, that was one of the very first movies which I saw pretty soon after release! Memories. And very sweet video.

Main hoon Don in telugu, actually most of the video is ripped from tamil Billa but telugu version is just much more appealing to me.

Why all the love stories must be labeled as innovative? Naaaaaaaaah. Since months (years?) in my life I watched just few romances that were actually innovative. But apart from being different they weren't agressively promoted as such ones (exept for VTV) and they worked because of word of mouth.
Prabhu Deva again proves, this time with his latest Engeyum Kadhal, that without good script he is an irredeemable director. NvNv worked because of new, appealing to AP audience story. Pournami is awful. Shankar Dada Zindabad failed badly, as a remake of Lage Raho Munna Bhai. Villu was a flop too and Wanted was a hit only because the masala stuff in it was sort of new for hindi audience.

Engeyum Kadhal will be remembered only for nice music. And from my side - good-looking Jayam Ravi.

Surprisingly good - 100% Love (2011)

I hardly anticipated this one. Only Githa's tweets made me watch it. And? I would regret not trying this one?

Tamanna (yes, I use the "old" version of her name, I am not able to remember that new one, actually it's bit weird) and Chaittu (that's Naga Chaitanya) - defenitely I don't like them much. Sukumar is someone who made few unlike movies in the past, such as grey-shaded Aarya 2 or Jagadam that pointed out what is appealing in voilence to today's youth.
After I read in the April issue of South Scope that this one is simple, I was puzzled.
And I have to admit - 100% Love only seems simple!

Balu is a top boy. First ranker with hectic, planned schedule and amazing (trained, I think) intellectual abilities. Then Mahalakshmi cames and changes everything. Slowly but... noticeably!

100% Love was promised to portray the problems of young people and their relationships. It's entertaining and also provides kind of survey on youth.

Naga Chaitanya - well, he improved since last time but still he is bit woody... I think his dialogue delivery needs some improvement and actually he was looking pretty hot (yeah..) but some sort of acting depth needed was lacking.
Tamanna? I don't understand her phenomenon. She reminds me Bebo with her mannerism. She was not bad but her bubblyiness sometimes annoyed me. The fact that her transformation was rather not narrated probabely was distracting.
Kids! I loved them!
Grandma was really nice.

I am a sucker for different approach to narration. This one is appealing to me not only because of that but it's a defenite asset.
Beginning is pretty slow, then things are perfect yet pre-interval scene is rather not amusing for me and second half? It could be worse but better too.
I liked funny references to DDLJ - probably Tamanna herself suggested them as she is a diehard fan of that movie.
The ending is good and the twist with Chaittu's fiancee is great.

Music? This is Mahalakshmi is my fave. This album is different, I didn't liked it at first but now I can't stop himming B square A square. Item number at the end - not bad (does every movie of Sukumar needs an item song?:P).

100% Love is not a perfect movie but... It's defenitely good. Despite some things that I didn't liked, such as slow action at the beginning and confused pre-interval sequence, and rather unfortunately different than the first half second hour.
I am truly looking forward to see what Sukumar will offer us next time :)

Santosh Sivan's masterpiece - Urumi (2011) review

Before watching this one, I rewatched Asoka like five times. Why? Because it's epic and also period. I was bit worried if Santosh Sivan will fall into some cliches after making one genius movie of such sort before.

And after watching Urumi... Darn! It's too good! Asoka was good but this is even better! (and has no SRK doing his siginificantly annoying gestures and faces :P:P)

Nobody really knows that Vasco Da Gama wasn't only a genius explorer but... he was cruel. And while he is gaining fame in Portugal, one boy grows up. He has golden urumi and wants to take a revenge on him.
But how's that connected to a modern guy that is taken to Kerala from Goa?

Ah, that movie is defenitely one of the best this year, this decade... All of the time.
Why? Let me explain.

Urumi is an epic weapon. You may have seen Asoka using it:

Actually, as I read, the Urumi in the title not only means the sword, but also urumi that is in every person. For a writer, his/hers pen can be an urumi. That nicely works for this one.

Prithviraj as usual came out with an solid performance. A man who wants to take a revenge, exploreres love and friendship in his life, and mets with ___________ end (I used __ because I don't want to spoil anything to you :)).

Prabhu Deva plays his friend, and he's this sort of a buddy that will never betray you or let you down plus he has quite funny. I liked his performance, he dubbed himself andthat was cool :)

My dream came true. What dream? To see Genelia in serious role. Her character is an female warrior, soldier. She is wild, but pretty girlish too. Very beautiful! The only thing I don't like about her is the dubbing. Will the movie ever be released in hindi? I wsh she would dub herself so I could watch her performance once again without this awkward feeling 'hey, her dubbing artiste voice is rubbish'.

She and Prithvi looks very nice together, convicing and, most improtantly, they are able to reach their highest acting levels, one is not outshing another.
I loved how their relationship was sort of troubled. And particulary at the end, which is very, very touching (not such as you will cry all the time but just feel cartain feeling), they both were great.

Nitya Menon is as great as usual, now wearing all these "complicated" clothes and lots of gold. I liked how she acted in one crucial scene, when somebody important to her was killed, and then very nice portrayal of a woman which has to chose happend. Overally it's one of her best performance, but every performance of hers is great this days so this sentence won't tell you anthing new ;) She and Prabhu Deva looked suprisingly convincing!

Vidya Balan dubbed herself, I think. And she was stunning, especially in her song, which is truly impressive. And her modern avatar is also good.
Jagathy Shreekumar was evil, he's so good as villainous charaters.
Arya is appearing as a narrator (pity he's probably dubbed!), he's playing two (!) key characters and how good is he - I am tired of writing.
Tabu's is just in one song but... That's enough to remember her :)

I must say that in this particular movie foreign aritistes weren't that awful as usually. Pardon that, but mostly all this goris are dubbed by some random people, and their roles are weird. Here Vaso Da Gama was beliveable, and all trough the movie, there is one Portugese man, very important for the story and he was good!

Urumi's biggest strenght is that it tries an different point of view on the past. It's not like boring history book but rather like a tale your gradfather would tell you during long, cold and rainy evening. I thought it would be truly period but an modern itroduction and nice point of narration make this movie stand out amongsy many, many simlar movies made. I was suprised that it relased so fast, most of the time such productions are used to take lots of time.

I liked how all characters were portrayed, all with onwn separate history and needed depth. Plus some comedy scenes such as a Chinease visiting Kerala, provides smile and are not making the drama part look riddiculously pathetic.

I loved choreography. Not only the one in fight sequences but song... Especially Aaro Nee Aaro, that is one of my favest songs ever!, which may remind you a bit of Roshni Se, but it's more... I don't know, dynamic? Plus the situation during which it happens is different.
Ahmed Khan, Madhu Gopinath & Vakkom Saji, Ullas Mohan - they all did stunning job with providing moves.

Music, by Deepak Dev, is very good. Truly ravishing, corresponding to what's happening on-screen. Every song is interesting, yet captivating.

Urumi is too good to be true! I will buy the dvd ASAP and watch it like 50 times in an endless loop.

I don't think it was necessary to remake Vedam - Vaanam (2011)

Vedam was alone too good to be even considered to have a remake. But somehow I still watch remakes even if I don't like them at all... But I like Simbu. And Anushka. And Krish is an interesting director too.
I don't think I have to go deep with the plot, let's go straight ahead to the movie itself.

Well, honestly? This remake failed, sadly. Some things were changed, some left alone - like Egiripote Enta Baguntundhi, Saroja's introducing song, it was just poorly dubbed and it sounds awful.
And sorry, but Evandi Unna Pethan is tiring for me. I don't know why, but listening to this song is one of the last things I would ever like to do. While Prapanchamanta is defenitely catching. One of the songs I can sing anytime anywhere cause I learned the lyrics by heart.
Also No money no honey - well, I think it was Simbu's idea to dance with Anushka... And yeah, other songs are nice but rather passable, while Maestro Keeravani in Vedam made haunting tracks which are defenitely mindblowing but, of course, it took some time for them to grow on me. YSR tracks are same all the for me, watching the videos didn't changed anything.
The ending, which was very touching in the Telugu original, (SPOILERS!) as the rockstar and cable Raju died after saving all of the people, with significant 'what's your name' line(END OF SPOILERS!), is different and for me Telugu original works more. And it's bit weird, cause it's Tollywood which hates while the hero dies and I expected rather same ending while Krish has chosen 'light' one.
Simbu's acting is not really convincing for me. Allu Arjun also didn't charmed me but their portrayals are different, and, sorry to say that, Simbu wasn't the best choice for this particular movie.
Bharath was OK, Anushka was wonderful once again. Prakash Raj - good, Soniya wasn't bad. Saranya was great as usual, so was the old man.

Well... I hate remakes but even if I wouldn't mind them, I don't think I would have liked Vaanam. Listen to me very carefully - it's better to watch Vedam three times than this one just once.

Even superb Subbaraju or Mumaith Khan won't change my mind.

Seventh BLOGUE - the lucky one? I hope so!

Well, well - two cooperative teammates makes me work so fast. And few school-free days also matters :)

This issue is epic not only because it looks relatively good but also because it's the first issue with our new team member, Prathna! She became the editor, while I am more or less the one who does everything expect special pieces by Githa - obviously she's the feature writer :)

Prathna is also on cover cause she's the special blogger guest this month. And she has two covers. Ye? One is crazy, other is plain. I relesed the colorful one at first then she asked me for something plainer. Her wish was my command so the cover which actually appears in the .pdf file is the simple one, back one is that first one. And personally? I think both are awesome, some serious editing from me.

Only 16 pages. The underrated previous issue has more pages but they weren't actually "interactive" so... Anyways, I think you are quite used to BLOGUE being thin. I like to call it compact, though. But - I promise. The 10th issue will be HUGE. Two bloggers and one, big suprise!

And hey, I've noticed an awful lack of feedback on BLOGUE lately. What happend? Let's fix it!

I have no idea why such movies are being made. So much drama, of course - probably lots of scope for the actors to perform but... Who will watch them actif the whole thing is rather unwatchable?
For me, because I am defenitely not a sucher for drama. I remember my suprise while watching something, long long time ago, while I was just a kid then, a movies without any comedy. Not a sideplot or something, but without any more or less funny scene. I am sucher for nice comedy, not for drama. But when it comes to actors I love, I will watch anything. Even the worst stuff ever made.
Yes, call it dedication but it's kind of stupid tough. Cause a movie like Bewafa is painful to me.

(Ek) Khiladi Ki Kahani part 14 - Chandini Chowk to China!

I don't find this one so awful as many whom I know did. It's not much good but defenitely less awful than Andaaz for example.

What is liked was... Akki, Tere Naina, title song, tv shopping thing.

And overally the plot was clear yet the same mistake as with Kites was made - the story is rather non-Indian if you know what I mean. All that Chinease stuff, despite how much I respect China, is messed up and I was pretty confused after watching - "what was the movie about?".

I love Tere Naina, that moment is short but beautiful. And bit hillarious, too. The song is just lovely.

That kung fu thing... I often wonder if learning this martial art won't help my mental health.

Deepika was decent, I find her portrayal of Suzy bit shallow. Cause she was just fighting and looking like some kind of Matrix Geisha.

I feel so while looking at Akshay. Awkward!

And that scene with Chura Ke Dil Mera... LMAO.

Overally, it wasn't so bad.

(Ek) Khiladi Ki Kahani part 13 - Mohra!

I always wanted to become a police(wo)man but when I grew up a little bit, I realised that this job is much different than I imagined it to be... But still even today I have soft spot for honest policemen in movies. Like Jagapathi Babu in Lakshyam or Akshay Kumar in Main Khiladi Tu Anari.

Mohra is about four people mostly. And frankly, I didn't really cared what Suniel was doing, Akshay was all I cared. Of course, I am joking :P

What I think was ruined is the really nice love plot between Roma and Amar. She was like 'omg he's so hot' (she would say that if the movie was made after 2003 I think) and he was like 'meh she's so annoying'.

And the way she made him feel something for her was rather original. me and my best friend wonder if asking some policeman to climb 'Szkieletor', an old, never finished and abandoned building in the centre of Cracow, would work. Firstly, that guy just has to be blind - to do this for me or Suzy with full knowledge of our visual qualities (or lack of it)? :P
Back to the movie, it was sad when after the b'day scene, everything started to be less fun and more plain and boring

Suniel and Naseeruddin Shah were good. Suniel's flashback was OK.

Different is better - Mr Perfect (2011)

Again a romance from Prabhas. Better than Darling? Hard to say, because both are quite different, only the lead pair is similar - Kajal and Prabhas. And I can compare that thing - they are really nice together :)

The story revolves around Vicky, Australia-based NRI, who wants to fullfil his dreams and enjoy life. The guy who made Santosham, which I disliked quite much, with Mr Perfect (everytime I read this I can hear this song from Aarya 2...) did a great job.
Managed to capture the today's youth desires and doubts without being pathetic.

Prabhas, one of my favest actors, improves his skills with every movie. Not every, to be honest, but still I would like him to experiment a bit with his roles. How long he will continue to act in action and romance stuff only? There are plenty of other genres. But... I know that telugu film industry is not the best one to try new things. Nijam, so sad.
Sometimes I thought that Young Rebel Star's performance is a mix of Bujjigadu and Darling yet it's still nice to watch. Bit of ADHD, as usual. Again, he's not the ADHD Star - it's Pawan Kalyan, according to dear friend of mine :)

Kajal suprised me. I didn't expected her to act so well. Her character isn't easy. Bit usual, it's nothing new, but he tried something more matured than anything before in her career and it worked out.
She was looking beutiful. I can't belive that I am praising her :P I wish it's not something that will happen just once in her career but she will repeat it in future. Maybe it's the problem lies in the lack of strong female characters in Tollywood? Anushka is just one and she will retire soon (boo), after that who? Charmi who is (tragedy!) rather forgotten. Will any director try something risky like feministic (more or less) movie? Without a hero that would make a good opening easily?

Tapsee was good. Dubbed herself. Flawless. Probably her best performance so far, along with Aadukalam.
Also gorgeous, nice portrayal of a happy-go-lucky type of modern girl.
I am pretty speechless when it comes to her ;) So good.

Prakash Raj - show! And I saw my idol, K Viswanath, somewhere ;) Nasser was OK, Krishnudu has a nice cameo.

I liked the moral of this movie - person totally similar to you can be your friend, not wife/husband, opposites attract and it's better to marry someone with a different background. Yet I don't think it works all the time... Mostly depends. But the way everything was presented is good, I wasn't bored (and I get bored very easily).
After first watch (I watch most of the movies (90%) two times, especially ones without subs (3/4? :D), my special technique.) I was like - meh, so cliched. Then, suddenly, after second time with this one, the next day - it makes sense!

Morals in movies lately became really important to me. They have always been but not that much. As I grew old, entertaiment is not everything to me. I need something that will make me remember this movie I just watched or I'll feel like I wasted a lot of time. Giving examples - I prefer Thank You, labeled awful by many (not me!) over hit Golmaal series. What I will remember after the latter? Stupid jokes? One or two songs? First gives lasting impression because of something that was in the script and made me think. Trying Tollywood - Ragada and Aarya 2. Mass masala movies and romantic flick. One flopped, frankly I didn't cared much about Ragada's BO reports, but I guess Nagarjuna made some money after Kedi, which flopped baaaadly (still I love this one). Ragada is forgettable so much that I barely can tell about what that one was (and most of my friends praise that I remember the plots of all the movies I ever seen). Aarya 2 was different than Aarya, concept was changed - romance turned into kind of thriller. Maybe this made me remeber this one perfectly, I even can repeat some dialogues after a year since watching.
Mr Perfect shows you that it doesn't matter who you are and where are you from.You can fullfil your dreams for sure only if you really belive in them (that is another great thing in this one),
I was thinking and sudenly I realised that maybe Vicky was so free-spirited that he didn't wanted to accept that Priya was really his destiny because he wasn't the one who decided to meet etc.

Music? Not bad, not genius. Theme is nice, sounds good. My fave track is Akasham Baddalaina, really fun! Other songs are pleasant, Light Tisko is good.

Overally - I liked it much. Defenitely I will rewatch this one few times in the future, especially after the dvd release.

I don't understand all these rubbish reviews stating that Ko doesn't makes sense. Of course it do!
In comparison to Ayan, which I totally dislike despite grest Surya in it, this masala has a taste!

Ashwin (Jeeva) works for a newspaper called "Dina Anjal". He is a photojournalist. In his office, he has to deal with Saro (Piaa), bubbly gal in love with him, and Renu (Karthika), who made him lost his camera the other day.
Apart from that, Vasanth (Ajmal Ameer), is the leader of 'Siragugal', group of young people that wants to make a change in politics.
But... Is he really so good-hearted? And do the politicians that "Dina Anjal" once made lose their image remain silent? What about Ashwin?

I think that Ko is not another entertainer with a item number, rowdies, five songs shot in beautiful places, love plot that lasts 5 min but something different.

Jeeva delivered possibly his best performance so far. I like his different movies, like Raam or SMS because his mass flicks are passable and defenitely not-so-good.

Karthika was easily the best thing in Josh. And it felt wrong that it took her so much time to allow us see her again. Radha's daughter is as good as her mother used to be or even better (lets see her grow). Chinmayi dubbed her and it sounds so good.
I liked her acting. Nothing over-, nothing so dumb.

Piaa was good! I like her a lot, there is no performance of her that went wrong ever.

Prakash Raj, Kotha - great to see them! Ajmal Ameer is not impressive at all... Maybe it's the dubbing?
Liked how the newspaper office looked and how some character were casted.

The script is well-written. Not predictable to all.
I was sitting there with OMG on my face. Political games are beliveable here, the twists and turns all over again will keep you glued to the screen. Like me ;)
I just don't have much to say about this one, watch it! Defenitely deserved hit.

Songs sounds better after watching its videos. My fave? Hard to say. All of them are nice and melodical. Aa naga features some of the most-known tamil actors (some actresses too but apart from Rima and Tamanna there's nothing special there). They even dance together at some moment - Karthi, Surya, Jayam Ravi, Jai, Siva... Too good to resist. And Pia dance really well in this one.
Wonderful locations in some videos - Norway and China, made the songs unforgettable. I love Norway, I even speak some Norsk ( ;)) and it's great to see Bergen, for example. But it makes me wonder why none comes to Poland. Here is even more beautiful, trust me.

Heh, I think that Simbu is bit pissed off now - he missed this one and just because Chaittu told him that Karthika is not the best girl to work with. Maybe Jeeva will say soemthing? :P
Total must-watch.

This is the worst movie ever.

Maybe it's a bit exaggerated to say so but... Saleem is bad. Oh so bad. Not even that bad to be good instead!

I haven't got the foggiest what the diretor thought while shooting it. It took him lot of money and a lot of time, I wonder why he's now shooting for Rey. Just show this movie to your kids and they won't fall asleep again.

I like some songs. Like O Baby, Kalti, Mama Mia. But only audio. Never video...

Untitled kick-ass kannada flick, titled 'Super' by fans - real must-watch

I don't say that that this movie is mindblowing like Mani Ratnam's movies can be. It is a perfect entertainer.

Catchy songs, mindblowing stunts, twist and turns when you don't expect them, fancy narration, not bad comedy... Makes a super-enjoyable movie.

The story revolves around a man who wants India to be super-country after 20 years - that is in the 2030.
He, of course, fall in love, has to fight a little but, again it's sure, always wins!

Upendra acted and directed this one. Great job! He tried some fancy hairstyles and costumes, I wonder what next :P
Nayan is good, rather pleasant than irritating. Just when she started to act, she has to leave... Sigh.
I liked the comedy, it wasn't so bad as I thought it may be :P

Upendra's direction is good, he was aware of certain cliches but somehow he didn't saved the movie from being quite pathetic at times. But still it is much, much better than Sivaji, for example.
The most riddiculous plot is the bet between some white guy and Uppi. Tulip Josi was there, if I am not wrong, it was funny but still creepy.

Music? Title track is rocking xD just watch it.

Total recommendation! The movie was made in three langs, so no matter if you are tamil, telugu or kannada, try watching this one and you can say "thanks" to me.

Longish one, by tekken, posted here, and I was truly happy to read it during my Easter break (thanks to my sis :)).

Hey, just a guy from Chennai. Was surfing through a few foreigner-written bolly blogs when I happened to stumble on to yours.
Allow me to say yours is by far the best in terms of coverage.
As a keen and discerning(at least in my mind :) ) tamil cinema aficianado, I am rather pleasantly surprised, nay shocked that you have taken such pains to see as many movies as you have.
Most other bolly blogs have disappointed me in the sense that, unconscious to themselves, their enjoyment of Indian films comes across more like patronising and condescending, like saying that an Indian movie is funny when actually in their mind, they are thinking "WTF? This is so hilariously dumb!".
You seem a more genuine admirer, which I appreciate.
My only grievance is, why such short one-word reviews to some great classics like Swathi Muthyam(old), Angadi Theru and Kaadhal, which you yourself say is outstanding?
Kind request:As much as you and me(and a billion others) enjoy masala films, and they do make an important part of film culture in India, it is my view that ultimately they lead to degradation in quality and eventually promote the idea that 5 songs in picturized in New Zealand, Nigeria and Switzerland with 100s of skimpily clad background dancers, an item song and one fella bashing 100 rowdies is the only way to make a hit film.

This is disastrous for film industries. Already you can see realistic movies are almost extinct in Telugu(movies like Prasthanam being rare exceptions) while Tamil realistic movies somehow continues to survive and create milestones(like Tamizh Padam, Aayirathil oruvan, angadi theru, Eesan, subramaniapuram et al.)

So please give more realistic films their due(like full reviews instead of one word).
Big stars are already getting more than enough publicity.
It is films like Kalavaani that need good reviews and word-of-mouth.

Another request: I read somewhere in your blog that you know a bit of telugu. Please try to learn tamil too. Not to read or write, but to understand.
Trust me, you'll appreciate tamil movies much more. Dialogues in Tamil, IMO, are better written these days than in telugu or hindi and a lot is lost during subtitling(which is done by idiots who make them ridiculous).

Also, try to come to Chennai sometime to watch a big movie FDFS(first-day-first-show). You'll remember it for the rest of your life.

Finally, despite you being a foreigner, your taste in Tamil cinema(sorry, I don't watch telugu or hindi movies often) is rather good. Atleast, in sync with many in Tamilnadu. So cheers!!!

I'll continue to post whenever I can. Feel free to ask me any doubts, or regarding any tamil film.

Pardon rather random order of things in my reply :)

I attend high school right now, I am in school from 7 am till 6 pm, more or less. And when I manage to watch a movie or two, it usually gets really late and I don't have the time to write long reviews. It happens to many movies, not only tamil, hindi mostly I would say, and it is just because I am lazy and I am busy. And I am more suffereing from writer's block than actaully writing and I am not an easy person to mobilise. Pardon that. Apart from that, some movies just are classic and I feel that I won't say anything new about them and decide to write just few words.
But I'll think about your request! I always wanted to write something special about some great tamil movies made last year, stay glued.

It's really nice to hear about the good coverage of my blog (best among many you have said... *blush*). And the thing about having similar taste to tamil people... Well, I can't agree with that. They are some movies which are rather crappy from me and I often hear from random people that I am stupid because I don't like them (I often hear that everytime after telling anyone that I don't like Kamal at all.).
For me cinema is one, lang doesn't matter. I don't belive in all that terms like English or Polish cinema - cinema is itself a lang.
Plus, frankly, I find some blogs written by non-desi people rathar awful. When I read their posts and I can see their views trough them - it's scary because I thought that colonialism ended up long ago. Nothing more wrong... All this "WTF/I would change everything"-attitude is weird. It's not my style, I tried to write some of my reviews with that style and it didn't worked out really.
I am rather open and broad-minded, I accept things what they are. Indian movies are based on the tradition which was born long before anyone ever thought about making movies.
I belive in cinema, it's not that some movies are just because worst than others because they aren't made in Europe.

I don't care where the movie was made, I want it to be good.

I plan to visit India ASAP, most probably after finishing high school :)

Well, dialogues? I always thought that tamil writers are great. I love love love Thirukkural. And tamil lyrics are defenitely best among Indian idustries, Thamarai and Vaali are my favest lyrics writers in India.

I want to watch Indian movies in every possible langs, I managed to watch at least one movie in ten different langs such as Bengali, Nepali or Punjabi, while when it comes to SI cinema - hundreds in Tamil and Telugu.
The total amount of Indian movies I saw in my life ever since I started liking them (march 2008) - about 860.
There is no lang which is my biggest love or whatever, I love cinema, that's all :)

One of my wise friends once told me that it's pretty rare that I love Indian cinema in general and Bollywood is not the only industry I know well enough as for a Polish girl.
Most of the non-desi people I ecountered try only Hindi movie, as they are pretty and accessible and much like western flicks (I mean some of the recent ones). The pretty face of Inidian cinema outshine marvelous side of it - the artsy, realistic world of other -woods.
Something that requires a bit of thinking isn't easy to watch... but this is cinema.

You said that masala flicks will kill cinema. I don't think so... Some of the actors actin the mainstream stuff just to earn some money and act in artsy flicks without fear that they won't survive. And cinema was made for entertaiment. When I am tired, I prefer to watch Sachin than Iruvar. I can't help it :) And I think that many won't understand Nayakan while Pokkiri is their favest movie ever.
I often disagree with tamil blockbuster and that makes me wonder why you think that my taste is similar to tamilans. Good movie is not bad, they say, and I think that way :)

I think that South Indian movies are not that popular as they should be.
And writing a blog like mine, which is ecclectic, makes it hard to get a bunch of honest readers.
If you find my blog so good, then you won't mind telling your friends about it? Really, not many are so into Indian cinema like me and this in not vain :)

Love Aaj Kal telugu remake. Any good? Let me see.

Story is pretty same. Guy and girl, realationship, then break-up and random man narrating a love story to the guy.

What can I say... It's a good remake! And most of you, dear readers, know how much I hate remakes. Read a special post about them.

Pawan Kalyan? Well... SAK shouldn't watch this movie. Why? Cause I think he will run into complexes. In the flashback, Kalyan was simply stunning and in the present day section he was brilliantly crazy. He has unique body lang (thing so visible only when it comes to SI actors, mostly telugu, seems to me) and makes a great use of it.
I missed him a lot and Puli was just baaaaaaaaaaaaaad, it's nice to watch a good movie with him once again.

When it comes to Trisha, I think she did a good job. And probably I liked her performance much better than Deepika's one. I don't like Trisha much but recently, she grew up as an actress, and I really appreciate most of her permormances since Abhiyum Naanum and AMAV (apart from < href="http://masalawbigosie.blogspot.com/2010/02/australia-teasing-and-sticles-shankam.html">Shankam... And maybe Khatta Meetha).
Interesting - there was a scene where she wasn't dubbed for a while and I heard her real voice. Wish she would finally dub for herself fulltime since Manmadhan Anbu.

Paresh Rawal is one of Jayanth C Paranjee's most favorite actors I think. He was in Munna Bhai MBBS remake, Bavagaru Bagunnara... And to be honest, my most favorite performance of Paresh Rawal is in a telugu movie. Kshana Kshanam, of course! I don't like much his comedy stuff in hindi, yeah it's not bad but quite repetitive.
Here he replaced Rishi Kapoor and does it with style, but somehow I still wonder if ANR, for example, wouldn't make a better impact.
But still it was really funny when he started to sing Aaduvari xD

Krithi was nice and cute. She was good, defenitely much better than this brazilian girl in LAK.
I think that she could try being less shy and more bubbly but maybe it was what diretor demaned?

Sonu Sood! Poor Sonu. Why Trish did it to you? I would have never divorce you, trust me :P
Ali was really funny in his short act.

The thing I totally dislike about this remake is that the connection between flashback and it's narrator was wiped out. It was cute and I liked it a lot. And some SA by, I don't know, Jayasudha maybe, would make a nice difference :)
Overally the remake is nicely done, there are scenes changed in a good way, others are ripped but I don't think they could be much different anyway.
Trivikram's dialogues always provides lots of fun. I wish he could script more movies apart from directing them - I didn't liked any of his flicks.

Music review. I loved Sri ganga and Vayyarala - the retro touch is simply marvelous. Everything was really looking like it was filmed all these years ago.
Modern songs are nice but passable.

So... TBH, I would rather watch this five times than LAK two times.

10 reasons why Vikram is worth my love (yours too)

Yeah, I am bit late with the birthdate post, who cares. I am always late with everything, I am pretty used to it. I've posted some stuff on my awesome tumblr, some Chiyaan graphics.

I've got the idea pretty late, I mean it's now 22:30pm, Monday, I am listening to the songs from Kanthaswamy (my guilty pleasure!), I justed opened new file in Notepad (yeah, I write 99,999999% of my blog stuff offline, when I am online I just do ctrl+c ctrl+v and post, after checking spellings (pretty hard, my dyslexia makes me blid :P)) and trying to write something.

1. Looks.
It's good to be shallow.

2. Voice.
He can sing! I love most of his songs, especially the lovely Meghame from Madrasapattinam.
Plus long ago, he used to dub other heroes, such as Ajith (in his debut movie), Prabhu Deva or Abbas. I like his voice a lot, and his English is lovely.

3. Ramp-walk-Remo.
Defenitely my favorite avatar of his. As much Anniyan was mindblowing, I totally miss him doing a little more comedy instead of everlasting shooting for every new movie of his after the Shankar blockbuster.

4. Versatility.
Well, since Sethu, his big break, Vikram tried many movies and many charcaters. From cockman super hero to Veera. However some of those movies weren't that good, you can never say that about his performance.

5. Fighter.
When Vikram was a struggling actor, he had an accident. Everyone he knew said he won't be able walk and stuff after that. But what Vikram did? Prove them wrong. (And married the woman responsible for his successful rehabilitation. That's the only reason why I consider studying rehabilitation at university - perhaps I will find my Vikram? :P)
And the fact that he raised stardom after years of struggle, being indeed a self-made-man, makes me respect him a lot. Cause he's a stunning performer.

6. Photoshoots.
Too _________ to handle. I think that among all SI heroes, he has the best pics and everytime he appers in some South Scope or Galatta, I am thilled.

7. National Award.
Second actor after Kamal Hasan to won one of the most prestigous (sort of, because in the last decade, after Priyanka Chopra and Saif Ali Khan won some, I stopped beliving in them, yet the Award going to Meera Jasmine, Priyamani or Umashree makes me belive in it against all odds) cinematic honourable mentions in India as he starred in a Thamizh movie.
Pithamagan is a tough movie BUT is it totally worth watching.

8. His real name.
John Kennedy. When I first heard about this, I thought it is a joke. But it's not!

9. His attitude.
I just love reading/watching his interviews. His words of the idea of quitting cinema after acting under Mani Ratnam direction (I would do that only if I were an actress, seriously).

10. Everything.
Because he has everything that I expect in a man (apart from being married). Viva Vikram!

Nepali movie with a "kickass" ending - Batomuniko Phool

One of my life aims is to watch at least one movie in every Indian lang in which some movies are made (like Telugu or Oriya). Bugs me pretty much that most of the people I know, apart from some freaks, prefer the pretty, export side of Indian cinema such as Hindi cinema. Well, according to me, they are just bit dumb. Cause, I'll repeat it everytime I can, cinema has no lang borders, it is itself an unique lang so I don't understand why some just avoid seeing movies in more than two langs, for example English and Polish - like some of my mates.
In 2009, there just one Nepali movies was produced.

Itself kind of new, bit weird experience, Batomuniko Phool is a youth romanctic drama. Suicide, eloping, rape... Pretty much everything that can happend to an average teenager is a movie.

The movie starts with a protest. A guy is going to be punished for killing few people. Why he did so? He won't answer the policeman question. So somebody else, who knew him right from his birth, will explain this.

It started when some cute kids made friends. Then they grow up and their bond will change, but how? Haha, watching the movie is the best way to get to know it but I don't think anyone else than me from my circle of friends and readers will see this one...

The main plot is this thing between two friends, boy and girl.
There's also a thing between other guy and guy and some family problems.

This lead girl has a distracing mole near her lips but overally she was OK.

My sister saw bits of the movie, just by a accident because she overally hates Indian Cienema (with such sister like me it seems impossible but it's true :)), when she saw the hero, she was like "I thought that such ugly guys become computer engineers not actors". His acting... Al iz well?

But the best best best thing in this movie is the scene that provides a really big KICK. At the end, more or less, my sister saw it and told me she won't eat anything today or tomorrow and I am sick that I watched it without any emotions other than laughing.
Watch it in the movie, that it totally worth it!
The next cap is not from that scene, I don't want to spoil your fun, dear reader, but some other, also very... special.

And something very interesting - it seems that in Nepal taking off your shoe and putting it on a table while talking with a prospective groom means you don't like this alliance. Well, in Poland there was something like a black soup which meant the same thing while served to a boy looking for a girl to marry her.

Then there is another funny thing - three characters apparently were sharing the same room. xD or just the set was same for all.

What is a youth entertainer without a proper band?

I loved the locations. Really pretty.

Well, I think the movie is rather boring, such stories aren't new in cinema and despite the dashing yet disgusting for some scene in the climax, it is bit passable, I think. Not bad story, some funny things... But good movies needs more care.

Splendid - Antarmahal (2005)

EKKK abhi baki hai!

My third Bengali movie, if Mr & Mrs Iyer count. If not, than third after two movies from the Goophy Bhaga series.

I heard about Antarmahal just by accident. I had no idea that Abhished Bachchan or Soha Ali Khan ever acted in a bengali movie!

The movie is about woman, second wife of a man who is desperate for a heir to his fortune. She is young, and when a sulpturer to make a statue of a godess arrives, she doesn't really know whom she is.

I always thought that Soha is not as god as her mother, whom I really like, but after this movie, I think she is quite capable of quite few difficult roles. Here I really liked her. She is innocent, confused, yet strong.

Jackie Shroff? Oh I dislike him so much. But he was good, as the main, sort of, a villian.

Abhishek! I expected him to speak some bangali, tja, his character only understand Bengali.

The first wife of Jackie's is the heart and sould of this movie. I am a-m-a-z-e-d.

Raima's cameos - good job. I like this kind of narration, very brave.

English paiter's voice-over is good but can be annoying :P

The movie is really serious. It's about male power and female, who can only stand and watch. And what happens, when they try doing something.
I hated the plot with preist reading mantras while a married couple is making love. Humiliating for the woman! While her husband just want a son..
I loved the tension between Abhi and Soha. They had like two or three scenes together but... didn't really need to meet to provide something really awesome between them.
And the ending is really touching.

Total recommendation!!

That was so '90! Lara vs Priyanka - in real life I would chose... Deepika Padukone? But seriously, none. Frankly, I prefer Lara. Why? She seems more pleasant, on screen she is more likeable and even when Priyanka Chopra get National Awards and everybody who didn't liked her are like 'OMG, she can act'... Maybe Lara's nose is a gift from plastic surgeon not nature and she can be so bad at times, for example in Billu she was really nice. And the only special thing Priyanka did in Fashion was taking drugs. And realiseing how fucked her life is when she woke up and saw black man in bed with her. Hell Yeah.

And this movies was so pathetic in the wrong way - I understand that Akki's heart was broken and Priyanka was totally dumb in this one, but seriously, wedding? And Lara was blind. Sorry, but being friends with someone doesn't make you unaware of seeing your best friend staring at you. And that guy whom she married was crappy. Akki forever!

After finishing the movie, my first thought was 'Why?'. There is a nice telugu movie with Mahesh Babu which is mostly about 'what happens when you don't express your love'. And the tagline is 'don't hide your love' or something like that. And quite recent movie, kannada one, with Sudeep and Ramya, is about what happens when you do the same thing. (Most of the time the girl/boy marries somebody else).

Anyways, Johnny Lever was funny. I miss him, some of his "classic character" are annoying but... He was never as annoying as Vadhivelu is.

That song, where Priyanka plays horny gal and Akshay wears yellow sunglasses... LMAO.

From time to time, I prefer brainless kovie aver anything else. Thank You is a slapstick comedy. No depth in characters and stuff. But I like it thais way. And frankly - from all genres (so-called cause I don't really belive in them, same thing with langs in cinema but about this maybe in some other post, alter :)) I love comedies the most.
I really don't get all these drama stuff, thillers doesn't thrill me, love works rarely... I grew up on laugh riots and I think that making a good comedy, not stupid and not too dramatic is an art.

Thank You is funny. I liked the main plot - wives who wants to take a revange on their husbands, more or less. With a little help from a mysterious man.

Sonam Kapoor is not as irritating as she always seems to me. Rimi is, as usual, very nice. Celina appears to dissappear, I don't mind. Bobby looks great and acts mybe bit worst than he looks. Suniel is good and Irrfan does comedy with ease. Last but not the least, Akshay Kumar.
I love his looks in this movie, his clothes are really cool. Maybe he doesn't go really deep with this character, maybe it is what the director wanted him to do. In his previous movie he really did a great job and I don't mind him goofying around. ~~Especially when he looks so good. Awww, Sonam was, dunno, blind that he wanted her husband back, I would love to settle down with Akshay's charcater, even when his past won't let him do this. Eh.~~ I think that Akki is super-dashing here. acting? well, I read that he's not doing anything at all... Sorry, if such performance is not doing anything at all, I wish every actor to be as marvelous as Akki is when ,apparenlty, taking a break from so-called acting.

I don't agree with the ending. (Spoiles ahead!) As hubbies are back with their wives, I think that it is not actually correct. Because people doesn't change, they just seem to, most of the time, and then they try to cheat again.
Poor Akki - that wife thingy could be better. Like, I don't know, she would fall into coma and then wake up... Wait, that's very telugu. Vidya had a very nice SA, 3 minutes of her stunning presence - always welcomed.
Since I saw the trailer long ago, just when it was out, I thought - yeah, Sonam will probably leave Bobby and marry Akshay instead. How close yet far was I! But... That ending would be good.

I was pleasantly suprised by the lack of of this Priyadarshan suposedly-funny emerge of plot collosions (sonds weird and wrong..) at the end. Climax i rather drama-filled, with one or two (three?) twists.

Thank You is overally a nice movie, of course - the lack of certain depth may seem wrong for some but even the deepest sea have some shallow part and can't we swim there?

Music? Pyaar Do Pyaar Lo is very addictive, but other songs aren't bad. When I heard the OST it was like - oh, crap. Now, after seeing the movie and, obviously, videos, I like most of them. Undoubtely the best track is the flute solo.
Mallika's item song is nice but can she dance? All she was doing was connected to her hands only.

Overally, it's not a bad movie. It's a complete (106% to be precise) entertainer which does what cinema was made for - entertains.

I enjoyed it just a little. Why? Because even if Lara and Akshay aren't bad together, the story was twisted and filmed in the usual, boring style.

Govinda was funny, Paresh too. Jackie Shroff annoys me even in bengali movies, Arbaaz Khan was average. Akki was cute! And, awww. His face - agsdhfgjhkghfd.

Tere Bin is a really nice song. And that strage song were good but quite boring at times.

I think it's much like De Dana Dan or Hera Pheri - funny, but not for me :)

Remake of that Hollywood movie with Bruce Willis, right? I remember seeing the original long ago, when I was in primary school. My brother bought the dvd because TESCO did that 'buy one, get another for free' thing, and he wanted to own Traffic and since you can't be choosy when it comes to dvds in supermarkets, he got that movie just to get the bargain. Both of the movies were worth it, to be honest.
Akshay Kumar was awesomeeeeeee as an gangster. (I know that all of my reviews in EKKK week are rubbish because I rather keep on praising Akshay than anyting else :P). His sideburns... Aaah. I am a sucker for good-looking guys with sideburs, like David Tennant or Benedict Cumberbatch ;)

(Ek) Khiladi Ki Kahani part 7 - Khiladi 420!

I started watching the so-called Khiladi series from the end. That is Khiladi 420, not Khiladi at first, and so on. I finished with Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi. Erm, I like it this way. At first I am confused, then with every previous movie I watch, things start working in my head. (I am sometimes afraid of how much time I spend of wondering about movie plots. Waste of time, but how fun! ;))

Khiladi 420 is as messy as the previous movie, International Khiladi. But the stunts are awesome!

Mahima is nice. I like her, I saw just a few movies with her, such as Kuchh Meetha Ho Jaye (really... rather bad one), and she is a pleasnt lady to watch on-screen. With Akshay? Nice paring.

And... Mr Kumar once again proved that he is worth to have this week going on here. Totally. And I love that moment in one of the songs, when she sits on bentch... ~~Yes, I am sick/crazy :P:P~~

Songs? Well, that similar one to the Rekha's Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi Hinglish track... Erm. No doubts why this movie can be watched only by people elder than 15 years old teenagers.

Plots is quite twisted. I had problem with recognizing who is Dev and Andand and then in the end I realised that I have no idea if Dev is Anand or Anand is Anand or whatever. Actually I expected a twist like the climax of the new Don..

Twinkle and Akshay. I often wonder how does she liked her name when she was in school. Anyways, International Khiladi is a messy movie. I couldn't eat while watching because everytime I did, I had to repeat the previous scene. And this is not a joke :P

Why I always like when my favorite actors try the dark side and play some gangsters? So easy to fall for them then.

weird...

Overally, it is not bad but rather complicated. Akshay did a good job and so Twinkle. Songes were good too and only the story doesn't go along with me.
